Pioneers of the wine industry
We are known as pioneers of the wine industry in Western Australia, for our outstanding award-winning wines, and for the magnificent native Mountain Duck that adorns each and every one of our labels.
The first vineyard planted by Dr Peter Pratten in 1974 runs adjacent to the Capel River, which is home to this protected species, and the ducks are free to roam the untouched banks of the Capel River and can be found seasonally roaming in our vineyards.
Paying Homage
The Capel Vale Debut range of wines pays homage to the native Mountain Duck, and as we move forward with the times, we debut the Sheldrake and its ducklings with a fresh, vibrant and modern new label, designed by the label designers at Public Creative.
With bold colours and modern artwork, the labels represent the natural pristine elements of the Capel Vale property, the fresh and vibrant wines within the bottle, and the protected native Mountain ducks that will forever be a treasured part of Capel Vale.

The Capel Vale “Debut” range of wines are fresh, fruit driven, exuberant wines which remain true to their varietal origins. They offer accessibility with immediate satisfaction and enjoyment.
Driven by the complexity of each grape variety, Debut wines are best enjoyed upon release, although our reds may be cellared.
